Effective Business Teams

When new teams are formed there is always a period of getting up to speed and developing the understanding and relationships required to perform at their best. In fact teams also have times when their performance needs to be enhanced in order to deal with changing circumstances or restructured responsibilities. Effective team working can be accelerated by a business focused workshop examining how the team functions and the challenges it needs to meet.

Practical Performance Management

Managing performance is the responsibility of everyone who manages others in the workplace. However it is one of the most misunderstood and poorly practised elements of people management. This programme will make performance management a routine element of the manager's role and something that they both understand the importance of and have the skills to improve. The programme will be designed to reflect the nature of the sponsoring organisation's business and therefore use realistic and pragmatic cases and examples.

Managing Appraisals

The employee appraisal is one of the most important functions of management - and yet it is also almost universally dreaded by managers and employees alike. It can be made easier for both parties if the manager guides discussion skillfully, thereby creating an atmosphere of trust and honesty. This workshop looks at some of the common problems the appraiser encounters in the course of the appraisal interview and offers positive and practical behaviour models for dealing with the difficult stages of handling poor performance issues.

Basic Employment Law - How To Stay Out Of Tribunal

Current employment legislation has a far-reaching impact on the management of people in all organisations. Uninformed decisions damage employee relations, lead to expensive mistakes, costly employment tribunal cases or unwelcome and damaging publicity. A broad-based understanding of the principles and practical applications of employment law and the way it is applied by employment tribunals, is therefore essential for those persons responsible for taking disciplinary decisions or responding to employee grievances.
